ATTLEBORO – Residents of the city will be able to vote by mail in the next preliminary elections, Cheryl Perry, administrator of the electoral office announced on Monday.

The deadline for requesting a postal vote or a postal vote is September 15.

The preliminary election is scheduled for September 21.

There will be no early voting without an appointment.

Ballots must be returned to the polling station by 8 p.m. on September 21 via the postal service, in person or by depositing them in the ballot box at the back door of City Hall.

The box will be checked until 8 p.m., when it will be locked.

Postal ballots cannot be delivered to polling stations.

The deadline to vote in person at the election office is September 20 at noon.

The election office is open until 8 p.m. that day.

The contest for the mayor is the only one on the ballot in the preliminaries.

Two-term mayor Paul Heroux is being challenged by former state soldier Todd McGhee and former city council candidate Jim Poore.

One of these three will be eliminated in the preliminary elections.

The Ward 5 polling station was returned to the LaSalette Shrine Visitor Center, 974 Park Street.

The law passed by the state legislature that allows postal voting for municipal elections expires on December 15.
