BATON ROUGE – Louisiana will take the closest-to-normal step in more than a year on Wednesday, when the state allows bars to resume near-regular operations, albeit with strict suggestions.

“Today marks a big step forward,” said the governor.
On Wednesday, the state will remove limitations imposed by the pandemic on when bars and restaurants can serve alcohol, by default to local laws. In many places, alcohol sales end at 2 a.m. most days.
Bars had been forced to close at 11 p.m. statewide in previous decrees.
The ban for people under the age of 21 from entering a bar will remain. Bars are also limited to what the state has prescribed “socially remote seated service.”
Beauty salons and institutes, gyms and fitness centers, shopping malls and casinos will also not have capacity limits, although social distancing must remain.
The mask’s mandate remains in place everywhere, the governor said.
Businesses and venues that host larger gatherings, such as banquet halls, will remain capped at 50% capacity, with a maximum gathering size of no more than 500 indoors and strict social distancing. Outdoor events will be capped at 50% of their capacity and social distancing is also required. Certain events may require prior approval from the State Fire Marshal. Indoor and outdoor sporting events will be limited to 50% of their capacity, with social distancing.
Reinforced condition: masks are compulsory in all circumstances.
The last health ordinance is in effect until April 28.
