Make your flu shot appointment today!

Dear students and families:

As share last week, The Arch’s Barnes Center will host flu clinics throughout October. To provide students with convenient access to the flu vaccine, appointments will be available every day of the week from Monday October 11 to Friday October 29. In addition, a clinic is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, October 8, at the Skybarn on the South Campus from 9 a.m. to noon.

How to get the flu shot on campus

  • Connect to the Patient portal with your SU e-mail and password. (You will be prompted to complete Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication before accessing the Patient Portal if you haven’t already.)
  • Select “Appts” from the main menu.
  • In the drop-down section:
    • Under “Clinic”, select “Health clinic”.
    • Under “Reason”, select “Go to the influenza vaccination clinic”.
    • Under “Supplier”, select the location where you will receive your vaccine:
      • From October 11 to 29, select “Barnes Center 309 FluShots”.
      • For October 8, select “SkyBarn Flu Shots”.
    • Select “Send”.
  • Select the day and time of your appointment.

Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation on your email from Syracuse University with appointment details and necessary forms.

IMPORTANT: Please bring your Medicare card and Medicare card with you to your appointment. The flu shot will be billed to your insurance. Most health insurance companies fully cover the cost of a flu shot. Students who have a co-payment or medical fees applied will be billed accordingly. Be aware that the ability to pay will not impact your access to services. If you are actively enrolled in Syracuse University Student Health Insurance Plan, you do not need to bring your insurance information.

If you get the vaccine from another provider

Although the University offers flu clinics, students can choose to get their flu shot from other sources, such as a primary care provider or at a pharmacy. If you get your flu shot elsewhere or have already received a flu shot after August 1, 2021, you must provide proof of your flu shot in the Patient Portal.

  • Connect to the Patient portal with your SU e-mail and password. (You will be prompted to complete Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication before accessing the Patient Portal if you haven’t already.)
  • Select “Download” from the main menu.
  • Follow the download instructions.
  • Select “Flu Vaccine Documentation” from the drop-down menu.
  • Add your proof of vaccination.

If you have a medical or religious exemption

Students who already have a medical or religious exemption on file do not need to take any further action. If you need to waive the flu shot requirement for a medical or religious reason and you do not yet have an exemption on file, please submit a medical or religious waiver form through the Patient Portal.

  • Connect to the Patient portal with your SU e-mail and password. (You will be prompted to complete Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication before accessing the Patient Portal if you haven’t already.)
  • Select “Forms” from the main menu.
  • Under Student forms, select the “Medico-religious waiver” form to print the waiver to sign.
  • Once you have signed the waiver, select “Download” on the home screen.
  • Follow the download instructions.
  • From the drop-down section, select “Medical or Religious Waiver Form”.
  • Select the completed waiver file to download.

We appreciate your continued support in keeping you and the campus community healthy and healthy. If you have any questions, please contact the Barnes Center at 315.443.8000.

Truly,

Dr Karen Nardella
Medical Director, Barnes Center at The Arch
