At E3 last year, Microsoft announced the purchase of four independent studios in order to accelerate its development in the first part. One of these studios was Ninja Theory, the developer behind Hellblade: Senua's sacrifice and DmC: Devil May Cry. Since then, we have not heard much about what the studio is working on. A Friday morning leak, however, suggests we're about to know what their next match is: a four-on-four online multiplayer action game called Bleeding edge.
The trailer, which appears to be a pre-show video footage and wearing the "confidential" tattoo, was shared on Twitter by the @Nibellion user. The trailer offers a quick overview of the game and presents a list of characters with great personalities and names such as Daemon and Buttercup, made in an artistic style very much in phase with DMC. Which is logical because it is advertised as featuring the work of DMC combat director Rahni Tucker.
Bleeding edgeIf this is the final name of the game, it would be a bit of a departure for Ninja Theory, which has focused so far exclusively on games in single player mode. However, this seems to correspond to the compelling actions that the studio has conducted in the past and which, hopefully, will translate well to the online experience. The trailer says that a technical alpha will come on June 27, but for now, it looks like we'll have to wait until the end of the game for E3.
Microsoft has not responded to a request for comment.
