GEORGE TOWN : Two other schools were ordered to close as a result of the foot and mouth disease epidemic, said Mohd Jamil Mohamed, director of education of the State,

. "Schools that have been closed are SKJC Sam Sun and SJKC Phor Tay," he said.

Mohd Jamil added that SJKC Chong Cheng in Bayan Lepas had closed nine of his classrooms after eight students contracted On Wednesday, a total of 65 facilities were closed due to HFMD since January of this year and a total of 1,679 cases were registered in the state.

A total of four patients were also admitted (two to Seberang Jaya Hospital) and two to Penang Hospital) because of the virus.
