It was first speculated that the Mazda CX-5 will not get a new engine, but it seems like it will come with the new SkyAcitve-G 2.5T engine after all. The same engine as the Mazda CX-9 and Mazda 6 is offered right now.

This was revealed after the CARD documents leaked. The new engine would offer around 250hp and 310lb ft of torque, although some people think Mazda could offer more on the CX-5. There has also been talk of a diesel engine for the vehicle, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

The Mazda CX-5 will also benefit from a further upgrade of the Mazda CX-9's design last year.
