If Harrison Ford had only played one of the two characters, he is best known for – Indiana Jones and Han Solo – he would have always ensured his place in Hollywood as one of the greats. The fact that he played these two characters that people knew quite well with Hollywood made him legendary. Ford is 76 today. On this occasion, let's explore two of his most beloved characters.
Han Solo: Han drives the Millennium Falcon with a Wookiee Chewie in the Star Wars franchise. It's an intergalactic smuggler who, from time to time, transports imperial fugitives from one place to another in the galaxy, far, far away. A scoundrel with a heart of gold is how Han is usually described. It is morally ambiguous and that is what makes it relatable unlike any other good or bad characters that populate the movies. It is also very fun, with easily the best lines in the franchise and a sense of ironic humor.
Han Solo involved in the Galactic Civil War (the conflict represented in the original trilogy) after meeting with Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Initially reluctant to choose a camp (he loves the company more than Chewie and would like nothing more than flying across the length and width of the galaxy all the time), but later agrees to help the Skywalkers and other rebels. Indiana Jones is the hero of classic adventure – dashing, full of vigor and a gung-ho attitude. Like Han Solo, he has a way with the ladies. But unlike Solo, he is warmer and smiles more often. He is also more open to things (especially for an archeology professor) and almost nothing seems to surprise him.
Indiana Jones is only a character Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr endorses on his adventures. Otherwise, he is a learned scholar who teaches ancient civilizations. But he simply can not give up the temptation to recover mysterious, hidden and sometimes magical artifacts. That's where Indy intervenes. According to a survey by Total Film Magazine, Indiana Jones was voted the best character of all time, beating Batman and his own Han Solo.
