Cher looks back on his career that spans 55 years

When Cher enters the Penthouse Suite of a West Hollywood hotel, she asks all members taking pictures to sit in the third row.

Wondering why, because she looks fabulous, she is 72 years old. like always.

She had so many careers that I asked her one day if reinventing herself was the secret of her success. "I do not think I'm reinventing myself," she said. "I'm myself, I'm no different from the last time we saw each other."

Among the many hats she's worn include the actress, singer, director, Las Vegas show stopper, creator of hair products. Her latest film is Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again in which she plays the mother of Meryl Streep. I remind her that it's been more than 30 years since they appeared together in Silkwood for which they were both nominated for an Oscar and she won a Golden Globe.

The two stars have remained friends. In fact, Streep surprised Cher when she was shooting one of her scenes Mamma Mia

"I was on the set one day, and I was doing my song, and then I saw that kind of shadow figure lurking around .It was snuck on the set to see me do my song, and then after she squeaks and we laugh and we hug , "recalls Cher.

You look fantastic. What is your fitness regime and tell us your beauty secrets?

Well, I'm never going to give up on that. But otherwise. I really train all the time and I eat reasonably.

I am a healthy eater … I have always been. My mother was a healthy eater because we did not have a lot of money, so we did not eat meat because we could not afford it. But my mother was from South so she did some fabulous vegetarian things.

I take care of myself, and I try to take care of my skin because I know it's the first thing that says how old you are. And I think I live healthy enough. I do not use drugs, I have never used drugs. I do not drink and it's what gets you older. And I do not smoke and it gets old too.

Thinking back to your life do you have regrets?

We do not have enough time, but yes there is. But I think that failure is highly underrated because when you are successful, you never go, "Oh my God, why do I have that?"

But when you have just failed, you think, you ruminate and you want to explore it, and I think it makes you better

How's your love life going? this moment?

Well, I had one there not so long ago, but the truth is, having any kind of boyfriend today, with the next press every one of your movements, only leads to tears; it never went well.

Do you think your voice is better than when you started?

I think it's a hundred times better. I am surprised that I did not have to drop my keys. My voice is so much stronger. It has been so strong now for a while, and it does not diminish. It may sound pompous, but it is true.

I still love to sing. It may sound weird, but one of my favorite things to do is when we are rehearsing on stage in an arena, I stand and sing because I like the sound of; I like the feeling that my voice is coming out of my body because it's so big.

You were part of a famous duet with Sonny Bono (to whom she was also married for six years) for years. Do you have good memories of the Sonny and Cher years?

I have a good feeling about it because we were so excited, everything was so new. What we lacked in the art compensated us in the enthusiasm. And rock 'n' roll is one of the few art forms where it is not about perfection, but rather about emotion.

When I listen to these songs (we recorded), I hear that I am a better singer now, but these are my roots. That's where it started

Is there a favorite song?

I suppose, I Got You Babe . It's such a meaningful song for me

What would you say about your first breakthrough?

Well, my first big breakthrough, I guess, is my mother, because she was

Since the age of four, I wanted to be this that I am today. I went to see Cinderella and I knew then that it was what I was going to be.

My mother was always encouraging, even though I was dyslexic. I am always dyslexic. I did not do well in school. But my mother assured me, it makes no difference. She said, "You're really smart, you're going to get people to do all that when you grow up, and you do not have to do it."

And then I went from my mother to Sonny, and it was my two big breaks.

Have you ever been a victim of casting casting?

I had an incident with a very famous producer that I will not name. I was really young at the time, about 28 years old, but you should know that I met Sonny when I was 16 and that I left him when I was I was 27 years old and had not grown much during those years, so I was a little immature.

I wanted to make a movie, and (this producer) called me home to do a so-called interview. And when I got there, it happened several things and I realized that my mother had talked a lot about the casting couch, because she had worked like extra.

I was not expecting anything because I was already famous, so I could not believe this guy was trying to come out with that kind of crap. So, I just told him, "I feel really sick and I have to go home. I am really sorry but I can not continue the meeting. "And I left.

When I got home, I thought," How can he feel good about himself? How can he not know how inappropriate it is? "And he was very famous, I will tell you.
