KUALA LUMPUR : The online recruitment business in Malaysia recorded a decline of 6% and 11% from one year to the next in April and May 2018 respectively, according to the latest Monster Employment Index released today.
The MEI is a gauge of the online display activities compiled monthly by Monster.com which records the industries and occupations posting the highest and lowest growth in the local recruiting activity.
Monster.com Says Oil and Gas (O & G) The sector has been steadily recording double-digit growth since last April and this year it has again grown by 11% in April and by 14% in May.
"However, in the short term, the sector has experienced recessive growth.Moser.com said that the service provider of information technology, telecommunications and the Internet, as well as the Business process outsourcing and Internet services were down by two percent a month and four percent over three months in May, sectors ranked among the fastest growing industries for the second consecutive month, which was rose eight per cent in April and marginal growth of one per cent in May.
"Professionals in the hospitality and travel industry experienced the strongest growth of 31 per cent in May, while retail trade recorded the largest decline, down 41% in May.

Online hiring activity in Malaysia had experienced a relative slowdown ahead of the 2018 general election because of the political and economic uncertainties that are prompting investors and businesses to be cautious.
O & G's industry continued to lead a positive annual growth, with analysts predicting better prospects for upstream and downstream players in the industry.
