PARIS, July 30 – In addition to presenting the work of confirmed designers, the Maison & Objet show also decorates future talents. The autumn edition 2018 (from September 7 to 11), which will be held at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center in the French capital, celebrates young Lebanese designers. Relaxnews has caught up with this year's M & O Rising Talents. First of all, Carlo Massoud
What is your first memory related to design?
Carlo Massoud: When I was a kid, I disassembled and assembled things in different ways. I was always looking for innovative solutions and new forms. When I enrolled in the Libyan Academy of Fine Arts in Product Design, I did not know how to draw in 3D at that time, but that quickly changed. I was passionate and curious about every object and project, trying to understand how it was done, what materials were used, etc.
What is your favorite material and why?
CM: When I work on a specific project each material gives me joy. In general I like materials that take shape with fire (such as ceramics, glass, melted metals like bronze, brass, …) Everyone has his own challenges and specificities. Every time I try to push the limits of the material, it results in a new discovery
Can you describe in a few words your project for this event?
CM: For M & O 2018, I decided to work on three different projects:
1: I started a collaboration with blind people who work with wicker . The main challenge was to work on a steel chair and experiment with the process
2: The second is a series of table sculptures, 19 in total, of Carrara marble, in which I incorporated some references to famous architects [19659009] 3: The third is a series of stainless steel and marble candle holders. – AFP-Relaxnews
