MBSB shares fall by 1.74% on second quarter earnings

PETALING JAYA: Shares of Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) fell 2 sen or 1.74% as the company recorded a 5.9% decline in net income for the second quarter ended June 30th. , the stock rose to RM1.13 with 8.5 million shares changing hands, giving it a market capitalization of RM 6.9 billion.

Net profit fell by 5.9 percent to RM85.69 million in the second quarter, compared to RM91.08 million in the previous corresponding period, due to higher taxes and zakaah.

Its turnover also decreased by 2.4% to RM794.14 million RM813.42 million.
