When Meghan Markle She chooses to accessorize a gorgeous white and long-sleeved evening gown with a giant aquamarine ring for a dinner with a black tie in Tonga on Wednesday. She knew that she would attract a lot of attention. Meghan received the magnificent ring the night of her wedding by Prince Harry, but the ring became famous because of its first owner: Princess Diana.

Diana often wore the aquamarine cocktail ring for glamorous occasions, and Harry surely remembers her mother every time Meghan wears it. Harry offered his wife a number of pieces from his mother's jewelry collection, including two of his diamonds embedded in Meghan's engagement ring. On the couple's first day in Australia, Meghan wore a pair of gold butterfly earrings belonging to Diana (the princess wore them on a trip to Canada in 1986), as well as a bracelet that belonged to her.

But wearing Diana's jewelry is just one of the many ways the new Duchess of Sussex pays homage to the mother-in-law she has never met. As the royal observers have already noticed, Meghan wishes to honor Diana as she embarks on her new royal life. From her wardrobe to her humanitarian work and her desire to tear up the royal rule, it is perhaps not surprising that the 37-year-old duchess was nicknamed "Di 2" at the palace. According to a source close to the royal family: "I heard that the duchess was called Di 2, because of the similarities with Harry's mother. It meant affectionately, and I think it's quite true, they look a little alike.

"I often think of Diana when I photograph Meghan," said the veteran royal photographer Mark Stewart. "Their wardrobes are pretty similar; Meghan loves big couture and block color, just like Diana. I remember photographing Diana in Japan when she came out in a red and white polka dot outfit. Meghan's wardrobe choices on this tour really remind me of Diana's, like the red dress she wore when she arrived in Tonga. It was a pure Diana, honoring the national colors of the island even before Meghan said a word.

Meghan's white-colored dress at a welcome dinner hosted by the King and Queen of Tonga also recalled the glamorous evening dresses that Diana adored. "I do not think we've seen a royal like Diana until now," Stewart said. "Meghan has the confidence that Diana had in front of the camera and the same love of fashion and high-end designers. Diana loved Versace; Meghan loves Givenchy. Their style is quite similar: classic, elegant and with lots of block colors. "

When Meghan and Harry arrived on Fraser Island sunny earlier this week, Meghan was dressed casually in a slightly transparent beach dress. The picture of its inhabitants saluting easily evoked a young Diana Spencer, who was photographed in a transparent skirt when she went out together Prince Charles.

"It could have been pure coincidence, but it was just for Diana," Stewart said. "It's not just his clothes. The way Meghan is with people reminds me of Diana. The way she looks to interact with children is a reflection of natural empathy and humanity. The way she looks for cameras and makes eye contact. She's great – just like Diana. "

In the couple's engagement interview, Meghan talked about Diana and said, "It's so important for me to know she's part of it." It looks like Meghan is working hard to make sure she's existence.
