Patrick Schwarzenegger, Miles Robbins with "Daniel Is Not Real" in Variety

Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sasha Lane, Miles Robbins and Hannah Marks will perform in the supernatural thriller "Daniel Is not Real".

SpecterVision of Elijah Wood and ACE Pictures announced Tuesday the casting and said the main photos had started in New York. The film is the second feature film by writer / director Adam Egypt Mortimer after "Some Kind of Hate".

Robbins portrays a troubled freshman who suffers from a violent family trauma and resurrects his imaginary childhood friend Daniel (played by Schwarzenegger) help him cope. Charismatic and full of maniacal energy, Daniel helps him realize his dreams, before pushing him to the end of sanity and in a desperate struggle for control of his mind and soul .

The film is based on Brian DeLeeuw's novel In this Way I Was Saved ", who co-wrote the screenplay with Mortimer

Producers Daniel Noah of SpecterVision, Josh C. Waller, Lisa Whalen and Elijah Wood. Timur Bekbosunov, Johnny Chang, Emma Lee and Peter Wong will be executive producers of ACE Pictures; Stacy Jorgensen will be Executive Producer of SpectreVision.

Robbins previously appeared in the comedy "Blockers". Schwarzenegger credits include "The Long Road Home" and "Midnight Sun". Lane is known for his roles in "American Honey" and "Hearts Beat Loud", while Marks stars with Wood in the BBC's "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency".
