The RM79 Unifi Basic TM plan is now open for pre-order

To meet the need for a cheaper broadband plan, TM has recently introduced its Unifi Basic plan that offers a bandwidth of 30Mbps at 79 RM / month. If you are interested, you can pre-order today and the plan will be available from August 1, 2018.

To recap, Unifi Basic is a broadband plan that allows you to download 30Mbps and 10Mbps. Unlike other Unifi plans, the quota is limited to 60GB per month and once you reach your limit, broadband speed will be limited.

In terms of eligibility, the plan is open to all Malaysians over the age of 18. household income below RMB 4,500 You will need to provide vouchers such as a verified pay slip, documents verified by local authorities or a copy of your BR1M acceptance letter. Each IC number is only eligible for a Unifi Basic Plan.

The Unifi TV decoder is not included but you can watch all channels for free using the application [email protected] for the first 30 days. After that, you can still watch 17 channels that are offered for free

Although this is marketed as a broadband plan, you can still make voice calls at RM0.20 / minute. TM does not offer a free phone, but you can plug in your own cordless phone.

As usual, there is a 24 month contract and there will be a penalty if you decide to terminate earlier. According to the GTC, you are authorized to transfer the package to a third party for the duration of the contract, provided that the person meets the requirements of the plan.

As a limited promotion, TM also offers a Unifi Super League jersey for free to those who pre-order by August 14th, while supplies last.

For heavy users, this is obviously not the plan for you. Even for casual users, you can take note that TM does not offer any add-ons for data booster. Once you have exhausted your 60 GB quota, you will have to support limited speeds until the next billing cycle. For an affordable unlimited option, you can opt for Unifi Lite which offers 10Mbps to RM129 / month. The quota is unlimited and this plan will be increased up to 100Mbps free with the Turbo Update

TM Unifi Wireless

If your area is not covered by Unifi Fiber, you may want to consider Unifi Wireless which also offers 60GB of quota at RM79 / month. Unlike the Unifi Basic wired broadband plan, there is no contract for this 4G broadband option, but you will need to purchase the Huawei wireless router at RM565. The device is easy to configure and can support up to 64 wireless devices.

After completing your 60GB quota, speeds will be reduced to 128 kbps, but you have the option to buy as much as 20GB of data at RM40 to regain full speed. For more information, please visit the Unifi Wireless page
