The Will Eisner awards from the comic book industry of 2018 were announced yesterday at Comic-Con. Essentially the Oscars of the world of comics, these awards honor the best books, creators and retailers of the past year.
The Tom King (Batman, Mister Miracle) and Marjorie Liu (Monstress) are tied as best writer, while Mitch Gerads, King's partner Mister Miracle, has also won the Penciller / Inker Award. In addition to winning Liu's best writer, the Image Monstress series has won awards in Best Continuing Series, Best Publication for Teens, Best Painter / Multimedia (Sana Takeda) and Best Cover Artist (Takeda). Meanwhile, Emil Ferris' My Favorite Thins Is Monsters won the Best Graphic Album Awards – New, Best Writer / Artis and Best Coloring.
Other big winners include Hellboy: Krampusnacht for best single number, Black Panther: World of Wakanda for Best Limited Series and Black Bolt for Best New Series.
