Man fined $ 270 for breaking lockdown to play Pokémon Go

the BBC reports a man in England –a nation currently on lockdown in an attempt to curb a creeping infection rate resulting from a new, more contagious strain of Covid-19, broke strict restrictions to play some Pokémon Go, and as a result was caught and fined by local police.

The fine of £ 200 (USD 270) was for “violating the obligation not to leave or to be outside their place of residence without a reasonable excuse”, after admitting to the police that he had driven “from his home in Bedworth in search of the Kenilworth figures”, a journey of about 25 minutes by car.

Police say people are only allowed to leave their homes with “a reasonable excuse.” Finding Pokémon is not a reasonable excuse.
