Kerry Lathan, 56, was on parole when he was shot and wounded by rapper and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle, born in Ermias Asghedom on March 31.

Lathan was with Hussle when he was killed in front of his Marathon Clothing store in Hyde Park. Due to his parole and his well-known membership in the Rollin 60 Crips, Hussle violated his agreement not to be surrounded by known gang members.

Lathan, who spent 25 years in prison for murder, went to Marathon Clothing to get a boost from Hussle, known for his support of local businesses and individuals, was arrested despite the injury by ball in the back. He was taken to prison for violating his parole.

Although the sheriff's department spokesman refused to tell the Los Angeles Times that Lathan had violated his parole, Lathan could be heard telling local interventionist Big U that the authorities "were trying to send me back for life for just to be there – gang association ".

Lathan's family pleaded with the governor, Gavin Newsom, who was at risk of violating his parole conditions "just to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," said lawyer Lauren Noriega at the time of his arrest.

Like Nipsey Hussle, Mr. Lathan was a member of a reformed gang that was determined to bring change to his community, "she told the Huffington Post. "Unfortunately, Mr. Lathan faces a possible violation of parole because his arrest was made without a complete knowledge of the underlying facts.

The CBSLA reports that a secretary of the Department of Corrections has seen his arrest dismissed by a court. Lathan was released at 3 am On Saturday morning, his stay was extended due to the responsibility of his treatment for the gunshot wound on the back.
