ANNANDALE, Virginia – Police have announced that a man from central Virginia had escaped Burger King: hundreds of gallons of used kitchen grease.

But he could not give the slip to the police and now faces big theft charges.

According to media reports, Alvaro Mendez Flores of Richmond confessed to the April 4th robbery. Court documents indicate that Mendez Flores put his tank truck in front of the Annandale Mall's grease trap and used a hose to siphon used oil into a 1,600-gallon tank.

Cooking fat can be used to make biodiesel. Fat theft has increased in line with rising biodiesel prices. Police have found six such robberies in Fairfax County in the last year.

Mendez Flores told the police that he would be paying 25 cents a gallon for stolen oil.
