SWEETWATER, Florida – A man carrying a banner and an American flag climbed a construction crane near a Florida campus where President Donald Trump was scheduled to speak on Monday.
According to the Miami Herald, the man would have spent about two hours atop the crane, at the north end of Florida International University's campus in Sweetwater, a suburb of Miami.
We did not know what was written in black on the white banner of the man. Only the words "Mr. President" were visible, the rest of the banner twisted to the wind.
Police had blocked the streets around the campus and warned that traffic would be interrupted by Trump's visit.
The president had to talk about the political turmoil in Venezuela. The campus is just south of Doral, a city that is home to the largest concentration of Venezuelans in the United States.
