Owen “can’t believe” Lingard didn’t start
Michael Owen was shocked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side selection for Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Everton, in particular the omission of Jesse Lingard.

by Solskjaer The squad selection has come under scrutiny, having made five changes to the Champions League midweek win over Villarreal.
Cristiano Ronaldo was the most obvious omission, but Owen was stunned that Lingard didn’t start, especially since he only came on Wednesday as a late replacement, as he told BT Sport thereafter:
“I can’t believe Jesse Lingard isn’t… I thought he would start today.
“I thought Cavani and Lingard would start. They had a big impact when they arrived [against Villarreal].
“I couldn’t believe it midweek when he was only six minutes late in the game and still had a huge impact. Every time he steps onto Manchester United’s pitch, he make things happen. “
