PHOENIX – Adults 65 and older will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Maricopa County starting Monday, February 15.
County health officials said on Thursday they were expanding eligibility because nearly 50% of people 75 and older have now received at least one dose of the vaccine.

On Monday, all vaccination sites in Maricopa County will begin administering doses to people 65 years of age and older.
The move is in line with the federal pharmacy vaccination program scheduled to begin later this week, which will bring the vaccine to 182 pharmacies in Maricopa County.
“The data shows that our decision to give the elderly a little more time to access the vaccine has been successful and that the time has come to invite our residents 65 and over to get vaccinated,” said Marcy Flanagan, Director of Maricopa County. Department of Public Health.
The Maricopa County Public Health Department estimates that nearly 400,000 adults between the ages of 65 and 74 will be eligible for the vaccine in Maricopa County.
According to the latest data available from health officials in Maricopa County, nearly 430,000 residents, or 12%, have been vaccinated with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
More than 120,000 residents of Maricopa County, or about one in four people who received at least one dose, have been fully immunized with two doses.
MCDPH makes vaccine appointments when and where they are convenient for people.
The efforts include: setting up five regional drive-thru sites across the county, then adding a sixth, and more central sites near public transportation with a pass-through option for those who do not. do not have their own vehicle.
