Marinette County virus cases increased by 33 | News, Sports, Jobs

State COVID-19 data sites on Wednesday showed another 33 confirmed positive cases since Monday in Marinette County, Wisconsin, while neighboring Menominee County on the Upper Peninsula added 18 new cases.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website on Wednesday also listed 10 new confirmed cases in Iron County and six in Dickinson County for the two-day period.

The MDHHS data site had 132 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday, with only Keweenaw County not increasing its numbers: 18 in Delta and Menominee counties; 14 in Houghton County; 13 in Marquette County; 10 each in Iron, Schoolcraft and Algiers counties; nine in Gogebic County; eight in Baraga County; seven in Mackinac County; six in Dickinson County; four in Ontonagon County; three in Chippewa County; and two in County Luce. Houghton County has had one new death attributed to the virus.

Using only MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula had 21,155 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 449 deaths on Wednesday.

Across the UP, MDHHS data on Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 146 confirmed cases and 33 probable cases, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 235 confirmed and 263 probable cases, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; County of Algiers, 343 confirmed, 206 probable and three deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 381 confirmed and 97 probable cases, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 456 confirmed deaths, 61 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 504 confirmed and 274 probable cases, three deaths; Baraga County, 727 confirmed cases, 129 probable and 40 deaths; Iron County, 1,038 confirmed and 73 probable cases, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,147 confirmed and 370 probable cases, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,167 confirmed and 1,485 probable cases, and 29 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,916 confirmed cases, 408 probable and 42 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,479 confirmed and 415 probable cases, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,647 confirmed cases, 626 probable, 36 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,622 confirmed and 770 probable cases, 76 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,347 confirmed cases, 871 probable and 64 deaths, one probable. State figures may lag behind local reports or show other discrepancies.

As of Wednesday, the MDHHS had 4,326 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Michigan as of Monday, an average of about 2,163 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 937,720. The state added on Wednesday 38 deaths attributed to the virus – including 10 earlier but recently verified through a review of vital records – to reach 20,161.

The state is now providing updated COVID-19 figures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the region’s five Wisconsin counties, the state Department of Health’s COVID-19 data site since Monday added 33 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, seven in Forest and Vilas counties, two in Iron County and one in Florence County.

The DHS COVID-19 data site Wednesday had Marinette County with 4,418 confirmed cases, 552 probable cases and 68 deaths, seven probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,363 confirmed, 154 probable and 42 deaths, three probable; Forest County, 1,029 confirmed, 91 probable and 24 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 614 confirmed, 121 probable and 21 deaths, 21 probable; and Florence County, 461 confirmed, 60 probable and 13 deaths.

Wisconsin has added 6,787 new positive cases in the state since Monday for a total of 651,341 confirmed cases of COVID-19 to date. The state recorded 42 additional virus-related deaths over the two days to reach 7,558.
