A 13th death from COVID-19 has been reported in Marion County in the Iowa State Coronavirus Database. All deaths attributed to the virus locally have been since September, when the first major increase in cases was seen between mid-August and late August in Marion County.

In the past seven days, 178 new positive COVID-19 tests have been reported in Marion County. Marion County Public Health reported 996 recoveries of the virus out of a total of 1,339 since the start of the epidemic on Monday – an additional update on recoveries will be made once contact tracing is completed by the joint task force on the Marion County pandemic.

The two-week average positive test rate in Marion County is 21.6%, which remains above the 15% threshold for schools to consider virtual learning if it is combined with 10% of ‘absenteeism. The community school districts of Pella and Knoxville have reported low truancy rates overall and plan to continue learning in person unless students and missing class staff climb to higher levels.
