Mark Cuban has avoided recent statements by Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez that it would be possible to eliminate student debt.
The billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks reacted to the Democratic representative's suggestion that the elimination of all student loan debt for the country would cost less than President Trump's tax cuts.
"Cost of the GOP tax swindle for the rich: $ 1,800 to $ 2,300 billion. Cost of handing over all student loans in America: $ 1.5 trillion. Clearly, where there is a will, there is a way.
"When people say there are not" enough "things to do, they just want to say they do not want to do it," tweeted the Democratic star Wednesday night.

Cuban cried foul Thursday, saying Ocasio-Cortez had ignored a key factor.
"Unfortunately, if you only forgive loans without explaining why tuition fees are high, you gave schools carte blanche to increase them. Why would they not raise tuition fees if future borrowings would also be canceled? He tweeted.
"The best solution is to provide resource-based student loan repayments and cap future family loans, eliminating the easy money that drives tuition increases."
Ocasio-Cortez supported a free public college and the cancellation of all student loan debt.

Cuban's comments came after refusing early this month to rule out the choice to enter the 2020 presidential race.
"I do not exclude it," Cuban told Fox News by email. "But the tea leaves should align perfectly."
The comments came after the star of the "Shark Tank" spoke at the New York Daily News after the Mavs match against Nlyn Brooklyn.

When asked if he would leave the bench and enter the political game, Cuban said, "I have not decided anything yet. We'll see what happens. It all depends on how things are going.
"There is a lot of uncertainty about what is happening in the Mueller report, there is a lot to be determined before knowing how the year 2020 will unfold.
