Last month, Insomniac Games released the first official teaser for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and it was very exciting! The short trailer ended with the appearance of Venom, hinting at a major role. At this point, details about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are insanely thin, but one fan wasted no time sharing a great idea on how the game could implement the Symbiote costume. On Reddit, user LordGetsuga pointed out how The spectacular Spider-Man The cartoon changed the design of the Symbiote costume as it took over Peter’s mind. The costume starts off much closer to Peter’s original costume, then moves on to an appearance that is closer to Venom.

It was a really neat detail in Spectacular Spider-Man where the appearance of the black suit was tied to the extent to which it had invaded Pete’s mind. It would be damn good if Insomniac took inspiration from it and let the suit “grow” over the symbiote arc in the next game of SpidermanPS4
The spectacular Spider-Man is widely regarded as one of the best Spider-Man cartoons ever made, so fans of the series would likely appreciate any reminder of the series. Coincidentally, the series was also the last Spider-Man cartoon released by Sony, so that certainly seems like a possibility for the PlayStation-exclusive series. Hopefully Insomniac Games will take this into account!
Unfortunately, it’s unclear whether or not Peter will wear the Symbiote costume in the game, or if he has already done so in this continuity. The Peter Parker established in the first Marvel’s Spider-Man has been a hero for many years now. We don’t know if Peter and Venom faced off before Game 1, or if the sequel will feature a comic book-like origin story, where Peter first gets the Symbiote, and then he’s discovered by Eddie Brock. The previous game took players through the origin of Dr. Octopus, but it’s not clear if we’ll see a similar arc with Venom. If that ends up being the case, the idea of LordGetsuga could be very cool!
