The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby reveals her marriage to her stepdad created a wedge between her and her mother
Mary Cosby revealed that her own mother stopped talking to her after she was asked to marry her stepfather, Robert Cosby Sr.
In the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Mary shed light on how the bizarre marriage has divided not only her and her mother, but their church.
The union was conceived by her own grandmother, who wanted her to marry Robert in order to inherit the wealth and the church that she had also left him.
However, the inheritance outraged Mary’s mother, who wanted to take over her mother’s post in the church and felt that she should have been the one to marry Robert.

“Before she died she was very clear that she wanted me to be the one to take her place in the church and inherit everything,” Mary said of her grandmother’s will. “It came with houses, money, our church and also marrying her husband.
“Don’t think it wasn’t weird, because it was!” she says.
Mary’s mother was not happy with the arrangement and stopped talking to her then 19-year-old daughter.
“It was all weird. I was 22 when we got married. It has divided our church, ”she explained. “My mother had a crisis because she wanted church, she wanted my grandmother’s place. My mother felt like she was the one who should have married Robert Sr. ‘

Despite the disagreements, Mary married Robert.
The marriage first began as a friendship before the couple became romantically involved.
Mary said they did not consummate their marriage on their first night together as husband and wife.

“Everything was weird on the wedding night,” she says. “Thank goodness I had my period.
As she got to know her husband better, Mary found that he embodied so many attributes that she wanted in a partner.
“After we got married, I had to get to know him,” she says. “I really felt like, ‘Wow, my grandma really did it. If I had to pick a guy, this is what I would choose.”

Obviously the match was a success, with the couple still married and now sharing a son together.
Mary is one of six new women starring at the all-new Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City.
