BOONE COUNTY – Boone County has been given a mask warrant that will go into effect at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25. It will expire at 11:59 a.m. on December 8, unless extended, canceled or changed.
Columbia / Boone County Public Health and Human Services Director Stephanie Browning released Public Health Order 2020-15.1 (c) on Tuesday morning.
Under the new ordinance, anyone 10 years of age or older in Boone County outside the city limits of Columbia will be required to wear a mask when in close proximity to people who are not members of the housework.
A mask will be required in all cases where it cannot be expected to remain at least 6 feet from persons outside the immediate home, including retail businesses, at the entrance and at the door. going out to restaurants and during sporting events.
It’s similar to the mask requirements that were put in place within Columbia city limits on July 10.

The Boone County Commission voted 2-1 to approve the term Tuesday morning.
“The departmental commission is very concerned about our citizens, our health professionals and our medical facilities. We are faced with problems that we have never seen or could have imagined, ”said Commissioner-President Dan Atwill. “Everyone should do all they can to protect themselves and those they come into contact with from the COVID-19 virus. We’ll get through this eventually, but for now, it’s not time to ignore our individual responsibilities.
The application of the wearing of the mask will be based on routine inspections and follow-up of complaints. PHHS said any person or business who violates the order can be fined no more than $ 15 for an individual and $ 100 for a business or non-profit entity. Each infraction will be counted as a separate infraction.
According to PHHS, a mask is defined as a covering of fabric, cloth or other soft or permeable material, without holes, that covers only the nose and mouth and the surrounding areas of the lower face.
Masks can be factory made or handcrafted and improvised from ordinary household materials. Household items such as bandanas, towels, t-shirts, or any cotton or linen fabric can be used to make a mask.
If you choose to wear a fabric mask, it is recommended that you make it with at least 2 layers of fabric. For example, if an alligator is worn, it must be folded to provide two layers of protection.
