Mayim Bialik, Bill Whitaker and Katie Couric will be Jeopardy’s guest hosts! … like a show that follows the death of Alex Trebek
Celebrities like Mayim Bialik, Bill Whitaker and 60 Minutes personality Katie Couric are about to host on Jeopardy! as the show continues to feature a changing roster of guest hosts following longtime host Alex Trebek’s death from pancreatic cancer last November.
News of the aforementioned trio follows the news, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will also be a featured guest for the upcoming quiz season.
“Alex was a legend, revered by all of us,” program executive producer Mike Richards said in a statement. “ I want to thank our guest hosts, who will not only help us all celebrate his great legacy, but also bring their own touch to the show. ”
Couric will make history as the first woman to host the program; the show will also donate to individual charities that each guest host chooses, donating the sum of the winnings for the week they are hosting.
Richards told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday that the program is looking for “ credible people giving the clues, people who can actually give the clues accurately, who are going to be able to judge right or wrong on the answers, and that Jeopardy ! fans will enjoy this role, but it won’t try to become the star.
He said: “ There will be a wide range of, I think, big names that you’re going to say, ‘Oh yeah, sure,’ and then my hope is that there are a few, ‘Oh , I thought about this person, and I’d love to see what it’s like to host Jeopardy!
Richards said he would be invited to host the show for a few weeks to give the next hosts enough time to “ prepare for their appearances. ”

“Honestly, I’m with the audience,” Jennings said in a pre-show clip. “I don’t want me here. I want to see Alex here. I know exactly how they feel when they see someone else behind this lectern. “But there are tens of millions of people who love this show; we love this show, Alex loved the show. I’m just happy to supplement and help.

Jennings began recording his episodes on November 30, 2020, as the beloved Canadian host passed away on November 8, less than two weeks ago he pre-recorded his final series of episodes in late October.
Richards, speaking with the Today show earlier this month, said Trebek was “ in tremendous pain ” amid recordings, but the consummate professional – “ an absolute warrior ” – continued.
As for his replacement, Richards said Trebek had “ mentioned a few names, but he wanted to stay out of that ” overall because “ no one is going to replace him, and he knew it. ”
