McDonald’s plans to test a meatless burger as part of the McPlant menu options slated to debut next year, he confirmed in a blog post on Monday. An executive at the fast food chain told CNBC that the McPlant was created “by McDonald’s and for McDonald’s,” but apparently declined to identify their supplier.

In an email to CNET, the company said it had not announced which vendors it would work with on McPlant.

However, a Beyond Meat spokesperson told CNET on Monday that McDonald’s and the company “have co-created the plant-based patty” that will be part of the McPlant platform. Mcdonalds did a test with Beyond Meat in Canadian branches last year.
