Measles is growing in the United States, the highest number of cases reported since 1992 / Boing Boing

In the United States, there has been an increase of 41 cases of measles compared to the previous week.

The US Centers for Disease Control reports that it is the highest number of measles cases reported in the country since 1992, and the largest since measles was declared eradicated nearly two decades ago in 2000.

States reporting CDC cases are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, New Hampshire , New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee and Washington.

The CDC indicates that measles outbreaks (defined as 3 or more cases) are currently in progress in 2019 in the following jurisdictions:

State of New York, Rockland County
New York City
Michigan
California, Butte County
California, LA County
California, Sacramento County
Georgia
Maryland
Pennsylvania
Washington

These outbreaks are linked to travelers who have brought measles back to other countries, such as Israel, Ukraine and the Philippines, where large outbreaks of measles occur.
