The New York City Board of Health has instituted civil suits against three parents who failed to comply with the mandatory measles vaccination order. They are punishable by fines of up to $ 1,000 apiece.
Continuing vaccination order applies to children aged 6 months and over with a fine for non-compliance.
The city of New York confirmed Monday 329 cases of measles since the beginning of the outbreak in October.

The department said another 44 cases had been added since last week's emergency order.
Dr Oxiris Barbot, Health Commissioner, said in a statement to Fox News: "Due to the long incubation period for measles, we know that this outbreak will get worse before it improves. However, people who get vaccinated can turn the tide, especially before Passover, when families and communities come together. We urge everyone to protect their children and fellow New Yorkers by getting vaccinated immediately. "
New York City has struggled to contain a measles epidemic in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods of Brooklyn while fighting its efforts to demand vaccinations.

The department confirmed the closure of four other schools for non-cooperation.
On Monday, the city closed the preschool part of a private Jewish school because the school had not made vaccination and attendance records.
