Melissa McCarthy & Octavia Spencer Give Wonder Woman & Black Widow a Run for Their Money in Netflix Trailer Thunder force. The comedy marks the last project of McCarthy and her writer-director husband Ben Falcone, who were also behind HBO Max’s. Super intelligence.
Set in takes place in a world terrorized by super-villains, the Thunder force teaser kicks off with McCarthy’s Lydia trying to meet best friend and estranged scientist Emily Stanton (Spencer). Emily reveals to her childhood friend that she has developed and perfected a formula that grants normal people superhuman abilities. Despite Emily’s warning to keep her hands away from all lab equipment, Lydia finds herself injected with superhero genes and new powers.
“Everything about you is getting stronger,” Emily tells Lydia, as she tests her super strength.
With Emily’s strength, Lydia’s powers of invisibility, and the super stylish suits, the duo set out to fight crime in the city – with questionable fighting style. The good guys, however, aren’t the only ones with powers. A clan of super-villains – including Jason Bateman’s crab-clawed criminal – led by boss Bobby Cannavale is terrorizing the citizens, jeopardizing the well-being of the city.

Thunder force Also includes Pom Kelmentieff, Melissa Leo, Taylor Mosby, Marcella Lowery and Melissa Ponzio. Becki Cross’s management Trujillo produces with Falcone, McCarthy and Marc Platt as producers. The comedy, directed by Falcone, arrives on Netflix on April 9.
