Flavor City Oils is celebrating its 1 year anniversary in downtown Danville this Saturday, August 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The store is reconfiguring to offer new products. They will have freebies throughout the day and will also fundraise for Dementia / Alzheimer’s disease. BIDA Awards Professional Scholarships 2021
The Berwick Industrial Development Association (BIDA) is committed to supporting the region through its post-secondary vocational scholarship program. Their aim is to help businesses and industries in the greater Berwick area by supporting local youth who wish to continue their education in industrial arts and professional trades. To facilitate recruitment, BIDA encourages local youth to consider using their skills and expected degrees to help develop our region and seek employment opportunities in their own backyards. Today’s students have the opportunity to turn these skills into long-term careers.
BIDA awarded scholarships to two students from participating schools, Berwick Area High School and Columbia Montour Area Vocational Technical School. Liam Ruddy, a technical graduate from the Columbia Montour area, plans to attend the Johnson Technical Institute in the fall, where he plans to earn his associate’s degree in construction technology and electrical maintenance while completing an internship at Tobyhanna. Army Depot. Liam hopes to broaden his skills and become more of an asset to his future employers.
A graduate of Berwick High School, Logan Noroski will attend the University of West Virginia this fall, where he plans to major in industrial engineering with a minor in business. Logan plans to use his problem-solving skills and work for an established engineering firm where he plans to gain the experience needed to someday start his own engineering firm and become a job creator.
BIDA created this distinctive scholarship program to raise awareness of vocational training and education. BIDA wants to increase public awareness and the importance of vocational training for our economy. Our region is rich in manufacturing, industrial development and logistics. Our communities need to know about the opportunities and careers that exist here, to offer sustainable wages and to ensure future job growth.

Service 1st announces the Going Gold launch event this Sunday
September 2021 will mark the 7th year that local organizations and communities have joined forces to fight pediatric cancer and raise funds for the ThinkBIG® Pediatric Cancer Fund.
The Going Gold initiative, which started in 2015, continues to grow. To date, this initiative has raised over $ 60,000.
Going Gold 2021 will begin with a special launch event on Sunday, August 29 at Hess Field in Danville, PA. The event will feature a variety of food trucks, live music, family activities and beer vendors.

Geisinger organizes a walk with a doc event to promote health and nature
As part of a movement to promote health, nature, and local parks and trails, a month-long campaign encourages communities and health professionals to take action together through ‘Walk with a Doc’ programs. The initiative offers communities the opportunity to take an active role in their health while exploring their local outdoor recreation areas with the health professionals who care for them.
“The pandemic has demonstrated the importance of time spent in natural places to our well-being, which is why we are thrilled to launch this effort which presents people with new paths to try to make the connection between health and open air, ”said the secretary of the DCNR. Throughout the month, communities and health organizations are encouraged to get active and organize their own Walk with a Doctor event. Walk with a Doc is an international non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire communities through movement and conversation. During the event, participants will enjoy a light walk with doctors and other local health professionals who will support participants and answer questions during the walk.

Bloomsburg Children’s Museum announces September programs
Some of the programs to be held at the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum in September include All Abilities Night, Friday, September 17 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors will benefit from a reduced number of visitors, space and freedom to explore at their own pace, adapted exhibits, a quiet neighborhood and an opportunity to network with other families. All Abilities Night is a FREE event held regularly.

New scholarship fund at the Community Giving Foundation accepting applications from BU students
The Community Giving Foundation: Bloomsburg is pleased to announce a new scholarship fund available to students at the University of Bloomsburg. The fund was established by the Bloomsburg Greek Alumni Association and is now accepting nominations for its 2021 award.
With over 10,000 Bloomsburg University Greek alumni living across the country, the association was formed to maintain a strong bond between alumni, support the recruitment and retention of new members of Bloomsburg Greek organizations. , and advance professional development and career paths for all members of the Bloomsburg Greek System. The group created the Bloomsburg Greek Alumni Scholarship Fund to leave a positive impact on student life, the Greek system and the larger community of Bloomsburg.
