HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Memorial Hermann Health System announced Wednesday that it is changing its visitation policy.

On February 10, the hospital system announced that it would now allow a person 18 years of age or older to visit one patient per day. The new policy begins Thursday, February 11.

As for pediatrics, Memorial Hermann said it will allow two adult visitors [18 and over] per patient per day and one adult [18 and over] night visitor.

The new policy will apply to all facilities at Memorial Hermann.

Additional details of Memorial Hermann’s updated visitation policy include:

  • One visitor (18 years and over) will be allowed per patient per day.
  • Age restrictions do not apply to visitors under the age of 18 who present to the emergency center with a patient. Minors accompanying patients to the emergency center may stay with the patient.
  • Visiting hours for all Memorial Hermann, TIRR Memorial Hermann and Katy Rehab hospitals are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Visitors of day surgery patients will be allowed to remain on site until the patient is released as long as social distancing is not compromised in the waiting area.
  • Family members can visit patients in palliative care or supportive medicine.
  • Visitors can use the cafeterias and cafes of the hospitals.

All visitors will be required to undergo a medical examination before entering the facility and wear a mask that will be provided by the hospital at all times.

For family members who cannot visit loved ones in hospital, Memorial Hermann encourages the use of video chat programs on personal devices.
