HOUSTON – As cases continue to rise at an alarming rate in the Houston area, Memorial Hermann is reiterating its policy of no visitation to all system facilities starting Wednesday, August 11.
“Memorial Hermann believes this difficult decision is necessary to protect the health and safety of our employees, physician partners, patients and the community as our environment continues to change rapidly. At this point, volunteers will be allowed to continue serving if they wish, ensuring that all necessary safety precautions are taken, ”the statement read in part.
Memorial Hermann said there will be very limited exceptions to the no-visitor policy, and all visitors will be required to undergo a health check before entering the facility and wear a mask provided by Memorial Hermann.
Exceptions limited to inpatients
For all acute care hospitals, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, TIRR Memorial Hermann, Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation Hospital-Katy and Memorial Hermann Prevention & Recovery Center:

One adult visitor (18 years and over) per patient in labor, antepartum and postpartum per day. This same visitor can stay overnight.

One parent / guardian visitor per pediatric patient per day. This same visitor can stay overnight.

An adult visitor for patients with life-threatening injuries. This same visitor can stay overnight.

A visitor for patients receiving emergency care. (Age restrictions do not apply to visitors under the age of 18 who present to the emergency center with a patient. Minors accompanying patients to the emergency center must stay with the patient.)

An adult visitor for patients upon discharge from surgery or surgery.

Family members of patients in palliative care or supportive medicine.

Patients with a disability or other medical condition who require assistance in communicating with staff will be assessed on a case-by-case basis for potential visitor exceptions.
Limited outpatient exceptions
For the following outpatient care facilities including outpatient imaging services, sports medicine and rehabilitation clinics, practical care centers, MHMG sites, MNA clinics and Davis clinic, outpatient rehabilitation centers TIRR Memorial Hermann and Memorial Hermann-Katy Rehabilitation Hospital:

A parent / guardian visitor for pediatric patients.

A primary caregiver, such as a guardian or adult caregiver of a dependent patient or an accompanying person for a patient with special needs, for adult patients.
