HOUSTON – Memorial Hermann is expected to open a coronavirus vaccination clinic in NRG Park later this week, but it will only be open to people who have received an invitation from the hospital system to register for an appointment.

According to Kathryn Williams of Memorial Hermann, the drive-thru clinic will be open Thursday through Sunday and officials aim to vaccinate around 13,000 people.

Here’s what we know now. This story will be updated as new information is received.

Only people who fall into phases 1A or 1B are eligible to receive the vaccine. These groups include frontline healthcare workers, people in long-term care facilities, anyone 65 years of age or older, or anyone 16 years of age or older with a qualifying pre-existing condition. Williams said the clinic will only be open to people who are or have been patients of Memorial Hermann Medical Group. She said eligible people who have already signed up for the vaccine with Memorial Hermann but were unable to get vaccinated are also receiving invitations.

Williams said people can only sign up for a date if they’ve received an invitation to do so from Memorial Hermann. Invitations are only sent to established or past Memorial Hermann Medical Group patients who enter the two open phases.

According to Williams, eligible people who have already registered for the vaccine with Memorial Hermann but were unable to obtain the vaccine are also receiving invitations.

No, according to Williams. Only people registered for an appointment will receive the vaccine at this clinic. Photo ID corresponding to the name and date of birth on the appointment confirmation is also required.
