Mendocino County Department of Health and Social Services Press Release:

HHSA, Mendocino County Public Health, confirms a case of measles in a traveler visiting the county. People who are not immunized against measles AND who visited the sites below at the dates and times indicated may be at risk of contracting measles by exposure.

Most people received two doses of measles vaccine ("MMR vaccine") when they were children and are protected. However, parents of unvaccinated children, unvaccinated adults and weakened immune systems are encouraged to consult the list of sites and times when individuals may have been exposed:

• Beachcomber Motel, 1111 N. Main St. Fort Bragg CA 95437, all day from Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26 at 11 am.
• Django's Rough Bar, 32096 N. Harbor Dr. Fort Bragg CA 95437, Friday, May 24 from noon to 2 pm.
• Sea Pal Cove Restaurant, 32390 N. Harbor Dr., Fort Bragg CA 95437, Saturday, May 25 from noon to 2 pm.
• Skunk Train, 100 Laurel St. Fort Bragg CA 95437, Saturday, May 25th from 1pm. 15 hours
• North Coast Brewing Co. 444 N. Main Street, Fort Bragg CA 95437, Saturday, May 25th from 6pm. at 9 pm
• David's Deli, 163 Dr. Fort Bragg Shipyard CA 95437, Sunday, May 26 from 11am to 1pm.

People at high risk of serious illness and complications of measles include: infants and children under 5, adults over the age of 20, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems, such as leukemia and HIV.

People on these sites who are not immunized against measles may be at risk of developing measles and need to monitor the symptoms of the disease. Fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and rash are common symptoms of measles that can appear 7 to 21 days after exposure. There is no risk for anyone going to these businesses except one hour after the person has entered the business.

If you develop these symptoms, call your doctor immediately. It is very important to call any medical facility before you go and tell them that you may have been exposed to measles so that the institution can take steps to protect others. patients and visitors.

The person with measles is an adult who has been exposed to measles in Butte County. The vaccination status of the person against measles has not been verified.
