Mets place RHP Zack Wheeler Steve Gelbs, of SNY, said Sunday that he had experienced Sunday a shoulder fatigue over the course of 10 consecutive days.
The move is done as a precaution, notes Gelbs.
Wheeler, scheduled to start Tuesday night against the Minnesota Twins, will be eligible to return from Ireland on July 22.
GM food Brodie Van Wagenen said Friday that the team had to "face the reality" regarding its place in the ranking and its plans before the deadline for transactions, strongly suggesting that Wheeler would be made available before the transaction deadline July 31st.
