- After a viral video appeared to show Rudy Giuliani was experiencing gas during a Michigan election hearing on Wednesday, a state lawmaker stepped in to say the fart was real.
- There were two instances during the hearing in which President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer appeared to pass gas.
- Democratic State Representative Darrin Camilleri said the two farts did indeed take place and were not altered in the video.
- Camilleri tweeted on Friday about how he was featured in the video clip of the incident which aired Thursday night on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live”.
- “In normal times, using our time and taxpayer dollars to investigate illegitimate allegations of electoral fraud would be a waste, but in the midst of a pandemic, it’s cowardly and cruel,” Camilleri told Insider.

The fart heard in Rudy Giuliani’s political universe this week was not a deep fake, according to a Michigan lawmaker.
President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer went viral overnight Wednesday following a clip in which he appeared to be passing gas during an election hearing. Later, a second video appeared to show a different fart.

State Representative Darrin Camilleri, a Democrat from Dearborn, Mich., Who represents Brownstown in the legislature, tweeted about the incident on Friday morning.
Playing a joke about being featured on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for his questioning of Giuliani, Camilleri said the fart was real.

Camilleri told Insider in an email that beyond comic relief, the lack of evidence presented at the hearing concerned him.
“From the moment we found out that House Republicans were truly living the blatantly partisan act of allowing Rudy Giuliani and other members of Trump’s legal team to testify before an official House of Commons committee Michigan reps, it all sounded surreal, ”Camilleri said.
He added: “Under normal circumstances, using our time and taxpayer dollars to investigate illegitimate allegations of electoral fraud would be a waste, but in the midst of a pandemic, it is cowardly and cruel.”
Giuliani did not respond to a request for comment from Insider.
At one point, Camilleri mocked Giuliani during his infamous press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot in Philadelphia.
“It’s not the Four Seasons landscaping – it’s the Michigan State Legislature,” Camilleri told Giuliani.
At another point, Camilleri reported that Giuliani was seeking a preemptive pardon from Trump, and Giuliani appeared to fart right after asking the chairman of the committee to punish lawmakers for his comments.

While the odds of two farts being edited in a livestream might have been remote in the first place, Camilleri’s tale from across the stage sounded like any alibi.
