Miami-Dade teacher accused of sexual violence against teenage girl is pregnant, police say

The 41-year-old teacher who was accused of sexual abuse of a minor and arrested in Doral on Friday is pregnant, police said.

Heiry Calvi, a teacher at the John I. Smith K-8 Center in Doral, was tutoring her 15-year-old former student while attending JC Bermudez Doral High School, police said.

She spent the night behind bars and was released early Saturday morning, but did not answer any questions.

According to Rey Valdés, spokesperson for the Doral Police Department, there was a seven-month investigation before police arrested Calvi. Miami-Dade County Public Schools reassigned her out of the classroom during the investigation.

The teenager was using Whatsapp to communicate with Calvi and detectives reported that there was a video of them being naked together, according to the arrest form. The students told the school administrators that the teenager was showing the video at school and recognized the woman as Calvi.

Police arrested Brittiny Victoria Lopez-Murray, 31, a drama teacher at Hialeah High School on Monday. His victim is a 14 year old boy.

Officers also arrested Daniel Fernandez, 36, a music teacher at Renaissance Charter Middle School, on October 1. His victim is a 14 year old girl.

Calvi faces obscene and lascivious battery / sexual activity charges, electronic transmission / harmful to minors, illegal use of a communication device, offenses against students by authority figures, child neglect without serious bodily harm , possession of a firearm on school property, contributing to a child’s delinquency / addiction, and a minor’s firearm / safe storage.
