Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visit a school in Harlem

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “not in touch” with their public by wearing couture clothes, a royal expert has claimed.

Several weeks ago, the couple made a series of appearances in New York City and met with political figures, including City Mayor Bill de Blasio and U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas- Greenfield.

They also visited children at a school in Harlem, where Meghan read them her children’s book, The Bench.

During the visit, she wore a bright burgundy Loro Piana cashmere coat, which would cost around £ 4,282, and matching wide leg pants, which would be priced at £ 1,235.

And royal expert Katie Nicholl of Vanity Fair said it made “no sense.”

Speaking on True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat, she said: “Showing up to an underprivileged Harlem school in a couture coat that costs more than most of these parents’ combined incomes in school – it doesn’t makes no sense.

“It just shows them that they are not in contact.”

Another royal expert and author, Robert Jobson, was also on the program, and he too agreed.

He said: “If they had been protected by the ‘royal umbrella’ they wouldn’t fall into so many of these traps, and they would probably still have some degree of popularity and a chance to have a voice. I don’t think so. not that in five years, people will be listening.

Last month’s whirlwind trip to New York marked Harry and Meghan’s first public appearances since leaving the Royal Family and moving from the UK to California, as well as Meghan’s first public appearance since the birth of his daughter Lilibet.

And according to royal expert and author Duncan Larcombe, the trip could be a sign of things to come from Meghan and Harry.

Last week he told Closer magazine: “Their release last week will undoubtedly be the first of many similar appearances and visits. Harry and Meghan are setting a precedent for their new line of work, and what they have decided they will be.

“They basically did a royal visit, like they did in the UK – just on their own terms and in their own way.

“There will undoubtedly be many meetings at the palace and discussions on how they are going to approach Harry and Meghan’s plans. This visit was a huge boost for the royal family and shows that the royal feud is far from over.
