Michael B. Jordan named People’s Sexiest Man Alive: ‘It’s a good club to be a part of’

Actor Michael B. Jordan was named the Sexiest Man in the World of 2020 by People magazine.

Jordan, known for his critically acclaimed performances in “Fruitvale Station,” “Creed,” and “Black Panther,” was revealed as this year’s winner Tuesday night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” From ABC.

The actor, 33, appeared on the late-night talk show wearing a yellow biohazard suit. He revealed his identity after removing his helmet, which had a smiley face. He said he learned the honor from a call from his publicity agent while driving with a friend.

Jordan told the magazine in a Friday issue that the honor is a “cool feeling.”

“You know, everyone’s always made that joke, like, ‘Mike, that’s the one thing you probably won’t get,’” he says. “But it’s a good club to be a part of.”

Other recent winners include John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, Channing Tatum and David Beckham.

Jordan, 33, said the women in his family were “definitely proud of this one.” He thanks his whole family for supporting him over the years.

“When my grandma was alive it was something she collected and then my mom naturally reads it a lot and so do my aunts,” Jordan said. “This is one they will certainly have a special place for.”

Jordan’s steady rise has resulted in strong television performances in “The Wire” and “Friday Night Lights” series. He made his mark in the film as the victim of the Oscar Grant police shooting in “Fruitvale Station”, boxer Adonis Creed in the “Rocky” “Creed” and “Creed II” sequels as well as his stellar work in as Erik Killmonger in the “Black Panther.”

Along with his acting efforts, Jordan has championed change behind the scenes in Hollywood. He launched his own production company, Outlier Society Productions, which was among the first to embrace the inclusion jumper, embracing a promise to seek out diverse cast and crew.

Jordan has been active in the Black Lives Matter movement and has voted on early voter registration for this year’s elections.

“I think there is a time and place for everything,” he told People. “I chose my moments to have the most impact. We can all take steps, big or small, to help create the change we want to see. “

In 10 years, Jordan hopes to direct and produce more than taking on acting roles.
