New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas sent a cryptic tweet Monday morning after reports surfaced that the former All-Pro deliberately ignored team officials during the offseason when they were attempted to contact him regarding his recovery.
In the tweet, Thomas – who had ankle surgery in June – hints that the organization is trying to harm his character.

“They tried to damage your reputation,” Thomas wrote. “You saved theirs by not telling your side of the story.”
According to NOLA.comThomas suffered from an ankle injury all last season and he may have needed surgery earlier. He allegedly ignored phone calls from team officials during the offseason after going out and asking for a second opinion.

Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke to the media in July and said Thomas should have had surgery before June.
“Well listen, it looks like we’ll have to spend some time without him. It’s disappointing,” Payton told reporters in July via ESPN. “And we’ll work on it with the other players who are here. But the operation did take place, and obviously we would have liked it to happen sooner rather than later. And quite frankly, it should have.”

The NFL Network has reported that Thomas is unlikely to be adjusting for the Saints at the start of the regular season, and all parties are still unsure when exactly he will return to the field. It was reported that it could take four months for Thomas to return to action, the network said.
Thomas, a three-time Pro Bowler, had just 40 receptions for 438 receiving yards last season. In each of his first four seasons in the NFL, Thomas totaled at least 90 receptions and 1,100 yards.
