ANN ARBOR – Michigan Medicine announced in an email to staff on Monday that it has expanded the priority group for the Phase 1A COVID-19 vaccine after administering more than 11,000 vaccines since Dec. 14.
Based on the state’s recommendations, those now eligible for a Phase 1A vaccine at the University of Michigan include:
- Anyone working at Michigan Medicine or the University of Michigan who works in a clinical setting (hospital, outpatient clinic, home care) and cannot work exclusively remotely can now receive a COVID-19 vaccine as part of phase 1A.
- Anyone in a position at the University of Michigan in a clinical setting who cannot work exclusively remotely can also receive a COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 1A. This includes staff and students working in the following fields: academic health services, dentistry, nursing, social work, kinesiology, public health, pharmacy and others who work in a clinical environment.
“There will be enough vaccines for everyone and we expect new shipments every week,” the email read.
Michigan Medicine reported the following vaccine data at 9 a.m. on Monday:
- Number of total vaccine doses received by the University of Michigan: 11,950
- Number of vaccines administered to the UM community: 10,900
