Michigan health officials reported a total of 10,428 new coronavirus cases and 98 new deaths over two days on Sunday and Monday, November 29 to 30.
Michigan recorded an average of 6,605 new cases and 84 new deaths per day over the past week. Compared to two weeks ago, the state saw a 3% decrease in cases per day and a 45% increase in deaths per day, according to data from the Department of Health and Human Services.
While the state has shown a slight improvement in new cases, it is seeing continued growth in new deaths, hospitalizations and positive test rates linked to COVID-19.

Michigan hospital systems were treating 4,326 patients with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 on Monday. This represents an increase of 258 patients since Friday and marks the highest total of hospitalizations to date.
Of the COVID-19 patients hospitalized on Monday, 851 were in intensive care and 531 were on ventilators, 88% of hospitals reporting.
Laboratories statewide processed 54,632 tests on Sunday, nearly 14.2% of which came back positive for the coronavirus. The positive rate has been above 10% since November 2.
Since the start of the pandemic, the health department has followed 360,449 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 9,134 residents who died. The state has also reported 28,493 probable cases and 430 probable deaths linked to COVID-19 but not confirmed by a diagnostic test.

Seventy-eight of 83 counties reported new cases on Monday, led by Wayne (1,495 new cases), Oakland (1,131) and Macomb (1,121) counties in southeast Michigan. The other top reporting counties were Kent (799), Genesee (388), Ottawa (338), Saginaw (278), Ingham (275), Kalamazoo (265) and Monroe (193).
Macomb County reported the most new deaths with 11, followed by Kent with nine, Wayne with eight, and Oakland and Ottawa with six deaths each. Monroe and Eaton counties each had five, while Genesee, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, Branch and Iosco counties each reported three deaths.
Twenty-four other counties have reported one or two new deaths.

(In a few cases, a county reported a negative number of new daily cases, following a retroactive reclassification by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. In these cases, we subtracted the cases from the date previous and put 0 in the reported date.)
The following graph below shows the new cases from the past month based on symptom onset. In this graph, the numbers for the most recent days are incomplete due to the delay between illness and getting a confirmed coronavirus test result, which can take up to a week or more.
