Microsoft plans to roll out support for text prediction in Word in March, according to the Microsoft 365 roadmap. Text predictions in Word, spotted earlier by the Neowin tech news website, will work from there. same way as Smart composition in Google Docs. Text prediction uses machine learning to anticipate which word or phrase the author should type next for faster text composition.

When text predictions are enabled in Microsoft, suggestions appear in gray. To accept, you press the Tab key or reject it by pressing Esc. Text predictions can also be turned off completely.

Microsoft has yet to announce whether it plans to allow its text prediction to suggest gender – “him” and “she,” for example. The company has not yet commented. Google Smart Compose, by comparison, called in 2018 not to suggest gender-based pronouns to avoid potential bias.
