Microsoft releases translucent controller for Xbox 20th anniversary

Microsoft is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Xbox with a few new translucent accessories, including a wireless controller and wired gaming headset. They’ll launch on November 15, 2021 – marking 20 years to the day – and pre-orders are available now.

Starting with the controller, Microsoft says its translucent appearance is a reminder of the transparent controllers that came with the original Xbox debug kits. There are splashes of the brand’s signature green on the Xbox home button, as well as around the D-pad and rear grips. Microsoft has colored the components in silver so that they are easier to see through its case. Internally, however, it’s the same model that ships with the Series S and Series X consoles, with Bluetooth support for connecting to mobile devices and PCs. This controller costs $ 69.99 for pre-order on the Microsoft Store, as well as on Amazon.

The Xbox Wired Stereo Headset also gets the translucent treatment, but to a lesser extent. Its ear cups are transparent, with a green 20th anniversary marking on the left ear cup. There are also bright green accents on the grilles between the pads and shells, as well as on the microphone. This special edition headset will also retail for $ 69.99 on the Microsoft Store and Amazon, which is $ 10 more than the price of the standard model.
