Mike Myers just received his own Netflix series

The comedian Mike Myers has been largely dormant for about ten years, appearing little by little in roles much like in Quentin Tarantino's. Basterds without glory and the directorless Bohemian Rhapsody Rather than showcasing the big-budget comedies that we all frequented in the late 1990s or early 2000s. In recent years, Myers' imminent return to this arena has sparked rumors (even in when we speak, Austin Powers 4 is listed as "advertised" on IMDb, notoriously reliable), but none of that represented a lot.

Until today! According to Variety, Myers has signed a contract to play a humorous six-part series for Netflix. There is no title yet, we do not know who will write or co-play in the series with Myers, but we know that the series will find the actor playing several characters. We imagine something a little like that of Sacha Baron Cohen It's America, perhaps without the element of reality.

It's an interesting thing to consider. There was a time when it was felt that Myers had sunk into the realm of overexposure, thus exceeding the host's home and returning too often to a similar well (see also: The guru of love), but it was ten years ago. Myers probably had plenty of time to create new characters and cool stuff. His absence may have softened us. Perhaps we now need a new series of Mike Myers comedies, including a whole new range of fun characters. Maybe he'll hit this thing off the park, and then they'll actually do Austin Powers 4 and we will meet where we started.

In any case, I will never be able to completely ignore the author of the legendary funny (and tragically unproduced) Sprockets scenario, so I'm ready to give Myers another time. Hoping that his Netflix series is a return to form. Stay tuned for further updates on this one as they arrive, and please listen to the comments below if you have anything to add here.
