Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is canceling his team’s training on Friday as the club await more information regarding their rescheduled Sunday game against the Baltimore Ravens, NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala reported. The team later announced the news.
NFL league officials are expected to meet later Friday to discuss the Ravens’ situation amid a COVID-19 outbreak, but that decision may not be made until Saturday as the latest test results are not expected to arrive before evening, Kinkhabwala added.
The game was originally scheduled to be played Thursday night, but due to the outbreak within the Ravens organization, the NFL has moved the game to Sunday at 1:15 p.m. ET.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was one of four Ravens players to test positive for COVID-19 on Thanksgiving Day, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, and the league is awaiting research information from contacts after positive tests.
On Friday morning, Rapoport announced that the match was still to be played, but the league is concerned about close high-risk contacts and whether the Ravens have any ‘buttoned up’ issues or if they will continue to spread and that will ultimately determine whether the match is played on Sunday or in the future beyond.
