ORLANDO, Florida – The nation’s largest public health agency pleaded with Americans Thursday to avoid traveling on Thanksgiving and not to spend the holidays with people outside their homes.
About 1 million Americans a day filled airports and planes the weekend before the holidays, even as coronavirus deaths rose in the United States and public health experts begged people to stay home. them and avoid large gatherings.
And the crowds are only expected to increase. Next Sunday will probably be the busiest day of the holiday season.

“The safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year is at home with the people in your household,” she says.
Many travelers don’t want to miss seeing their families and are confident that it is safe to do so. Additionally, many colleges have ended their in-person classes, prompting students to return home.
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention urged Americans not to travel or vacation with people outside of their homes.
If families decide to include returning students, the military, or others for the turkey and stuffing, the CDC recommends that hosts take extra precautions: Gatherings should be outdoors if possible, with people standing 6 feet tall and wearing masks and one person serving food.

Case
The Florida Department of Health reported 8,376 new cases Wednesday, bringing the state’s overall total to 961,676 cases since March.
Death
The Florida Department of Health reported on Wednesday that 99 people had recently died from COVID-19. According to Wednesday’s coronavirus report, a total of 18 482 deaths statewide have been linked to the coronavirus, a number that includes 228 deaths of non-residents in Florida.
State health officials have always maintained that deaths from the virus are often slow to be reported to FDOH, with some deaths going unreported for a month or more.
Hospitalizations
Currently there are 3,723 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Agency for Healthcare Administration. The Florida DOH on Wednesday reported 306 newly hospitalized patients due to COVID-19.
Positivity rate
The percentage of positive results ranged from 6.67% to 10.06% over the past two weeks and was 7.10% on Tuesday.
